Frankie’s 95th - Can’t Stop the Lindy Hop
by Carl Nelson
Coming up May 21st to the 26th, Frankie Manning’s 95th birthday celebration is being held in NYC.
This is not an event to miss with performances and tributes by top dancers from all over the world, great live music and support from the entire lindy hop community.
This celebration is not just about the 95 years Frankie has lived but also the amazing gift of dance that he helped create. Lindy Hop has influenced so many peoples lives and this is an event of appreciation. To show Frankie how much impact he has had on the world.
If you haven’t read Frankie’s book it is a must read for anyone who dances Lindy Hop. Frankie Manning: Ambassador of Lindy Hop
Thank you Frankie!
If it’s not on your calendar it should be. May 21st - 26th, New York City.
Are you going or performing for the 95th? Comment.

I’m going to be there and have already booked my hotel, but I’m definitely wondering when more details will become available. Anybody know when the schedule might be posted?
Hey Mandi,
we’ll definitely post something once we get news about the schedule, and I’m sure it’ll make the front page on Yehoodi as well.
I’ve been in contact with David Jacoby, one of the organizers, and they’re working hard getting everything ready for the event. They’re hoping to make this “the biggest swing dance event of our time” and I know the organizers are not making any money personally with this event.
It should be a blast, and my prediction is that this will indeed be the defining event of our generation. (yes bold words, but this is just to show how excited I am about this event!)
Thanks for dropping knowledge on this. I’m also on the F95 committee. We’re posting registration and schedule news on this in the next days. Stay tuned!
I’ve been talking this event up to a bunch of people in DC. It wouldn’t surprise me if we have close to 100 dancers from the District show up…if not more. I’m just waiting to hear about venues before I start looking for a place to stay, otherwise I’ve already requested some time off from work.
Same thing here.
Considering that my team Northern Lights as well as Max & Annie will be performing at this event, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get at least 50 fellow Montrealers to go - especially since NYC is driving distance away.
CBC Radio (Canada’s national broadcaster) has even expressed interest in covering the story - the significance of this event to our generation of dancers and how we Canadians are making a “pilgrimage” to perform a tribute to Frankie Manning and the birthplace of Lindy Hop.
The site is now live!
Alright everyone, registration is up!
Registration was temporarily closed for the last few weeks, but they’ve found a new venue for the Friday through Monday dances (the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom). So if you haven’t registered, go do that now
